Steps in the TSA Registration Process

1. You (the flight training candidate) should provide advanced notice to Jet University that you intend to start flight training by completing a Jet University Student Registration.

2. After you notify Jet University of your intent, you need to register online with TSA at https://www.flightschoolcandidates.gov After accessing this page, click on "Create new student account." After registering, select a permanent user name and later sent a password from TSA via e-mail (it gets sent to the email address you provide to the TSA).

3. Now return to complete the account request form online at https://www.flightschoolcandidates.gov When finished, you will be directed to log in to your AFSP account using the login and password that was just emailed to you. After logging in, you will begin a new training application. Step 7 will ask you to select your Provider Name. Please select Florida as the State and Airborne Systems, Inc. as the Provider. Do not select Jet University at this step.

Your Student Identification # from school is the first 4 letters of your first name
and the first 4 letters of your last name, so Tommy Jones is TOMMJONE and Rajan Patel is RAJAPATE.

Course ID#: PPL (or CFI, COMM, CFII, 110, etc.)

Class Name: Private Pilot (or Certified Flight Instructor, 110 Instrument-Commercial
Multi, etc.)

Aircraft Type: Cessna 172, Piper Warrior, DA20, DA40, Seminole, etc.

Enter the following aircraft for the applicable phases of training:

Initial/Private – DA 20 aircraft

Instrument – DA 20 and DA 40

MEL - DA 40, DA 42 and DA-42 FTD

Start Date: The date that you plan to start

End Date: A date no more than 1 year from the Start Date.

4. Jet University/Airborne Systems will be sent an e-mail from TSA requesting confirmation of your training request after your request has been submitted.

5. Once we confirm your request, you will be e-mailed instructions to pay the US $130 processing fee (credit card only). Non US-students may not begin new flight training course until a “Permission to Initiate Training” email from the AFSP has been received for that course. Also note that you cannot begin your next phase of training,
(instrument, or MEL), until you have applied online and paid the $130 fee for that phase. In order to avoid any unnecessary delays waiting for AFSP approval, we suggest that you apply for all three phases early in your training.

6. Upon receiving the payment, TSA e-mails both you and the flight school a "preliminary
decision" that confirms the application and fee have been received.

7. Once your application has been processed, you will receive an emailed requesting your fingerprints. Carefully follow the instructions on the fingerprint request email. Locations for having your prints taken are found in step 1 of the email instructions. If you choose to wait until you arrive at Jet University, fingerprinting is available locally.

8. TSA will send an e-mail confirming receipt of the fingerprints and fee, which both you and Jet University/Airborne Systems need to receive before training is started.

9. TSA will make a final determination as to your eligibility to receive flight training and will notify both you and the flight school of its decision.

10. Lastly, the flight school will be sent instructions from the TSA to send your photo to the TSA by uploading it electronically or by fax.
